This playlist was compiled in response to the following question on social media: ‘Do you listen to music while working in the Op. Theatre? Have you had surgery and put together your own playlist?’ Most responses were from people who had surgery, particularly those that were anticipated and for which they were expecting to be awake (such as planned caesareans). Others were for songs that people remembered as part of their experience of undergoing surgery, but which were chosen by surgeons. Some songs were chosen by individuals, others were collaborative. We have deliberately not specified the circumstances or details in the playlist below, and encourage you to hear (or read) it as a sample of the varied soundscapes of the hospital operating theatre.
